I was driving along yesterday everything running good when the truck lost power. It would still pull its self at the speed limit on flat ground. I stopped at a shop on the way home. They pulled the codes. I don't remember the number of the code but was told it indicated the truck was running hot and the power had been backed down because of that. Truck wasn't running hot and the factory gauge and the edge gauge indicated normal temps. They suggested replacing the sensor but if it was the sensor would the gauges not have been showing a high temp? The only mods to the truck are the FASS system and Edge Insight CTS2 just gauges. Any suggestions would we appreciated.
I did the 3 key routine and it showed P1693 Generic fault indicating a fault in the bus or PCM/ECM interface.

 

Pull the codes again with a code reader and then post what it showed.

 

P0217 Coolant Temperature Too High. Coolant temp has not been high. Changed the temp sensor and code went away, but truck still runs the same. Everything looks normal on the gauges except boost which is 0.0

 

If you're not getting any boost then either there's something wrong with the boost gauge/sensor or you're really not getting any boost because of a severe boost leak. Boost is a byproduct of heat and air from fuel burned. That boost generated returns the cylinder pressure by making more power. If there's a boost leak then you'll not only loose power but you'll generate excessively high EGT's, which in turn will cause coolant temperatures to rise.

 

Hearing a loud high pitch swoosh or whistle? Check intercooler boots and turbo housing....
