2 questions-injectors & smoke
I've got 540,000KM's(331,000 miles)on the truck. First: I want to upgrade to RV275's, but not until the originals are toast. How do I know when they are shot, without pulling them out for testing? The truck seems to still be running and pulling just fine. Second: Is it just my imagination, 'cause after I straight piped, I seem to get more black smoke. Is this normal, or is something wrong that just coincidentally happened around the same time? Third: How are you guys getting posts with nice, separated paragraphs? Help out this computer illierate!!

To make some reasonable replies to your points:

First: You will have to remove them to test them correctly- pop off pressure and spray pattern

Second: I think it's either coincidence, or driving style (gotta love the sound ;D ) and the assumption that your injectors are bad is not too far fetched at your mileage.

Third: Paragraphs are made with the "Enter" key . Just type the content of the first paragraph you want to write then press enter and write the second paragraph. If you want a blank line between the paragraphs you just press enter twice.

HTH

AlpineRAM

Re:2 questions-injectors & smoke
Ok, I'm sure you're right about the injectors being toast with that many miles. I would have to agree, just that it seems still be running well. I'm also thinking that they have been wearing out so gradually, that maybe I haven't noticed any performance difference. It does seem to need a few more cranks to get her started from what I remember.(but still not anywhere near the length of time as a Powerstroke!
)
At any rate, here's my next question. I guess it's time to start budgeting for new injectors. With the Superchip, and RV 275's, HP will be up around 350+. Will my stock clutch handle this? Yes, I know I'll get posts that will say to upgrade, but I'm not made of money like you!!
I don't drag race or anything like that. The only times I really use the power is when towing, 'specially in hills.

Mr. Fitzer -

I have the same basic truck as you..you might find my experience of some benefit;

I had some EDM stage 2 injectors,
and a beeg k45 turbo.. :
Horsepower was up around 450-475..was ungodly fast..but waay too much smoke for the peoples republic of San Francisco..So, I went back to RV275's and a stock turbo..I still have the TST box w/ 9 level remote..THATS where the HP comes from..anyway, even on level 9, just a light grey haze..on levels 0-4, no smoke at all..and thats where I usually run it. Still makes around 350 hp on level 9 by the butt dyno, but its not the blazing fast truck that it was..you'll be around 300 or so with that superchip..The TST box is good for a 100 hp or more..Its quite a box.

Oh..and get yourself a Scotty II if you haven't already done so..The music it makes is worth the price alone.

Re:2 questions-injectors & smoke
Fitzer, The stock clutch will JUST handle a EZ and 275's for a while or if you drive nice. If Your drive aggressively then just install the box. I have a set of Brand new stock injectors ( Taken out of a crateMotor) I will sell for $150 + ship. Kurt 505-534-0434
