1998 dodge 2500 cummins
I have a 1998 dodge 2500 w/cummins turbo diesel (stock) Here’s what’s going on. The tach started to act eradically bouncing up and down to zero and motor would rev occasionally when tach would jump up. Then truck began to die when tach would go to zero. Starts became harder and harder until only way to start was to push start. I replaced the crank shaft position sensor and now truck will barely crank and throwing P 1690 code

Have you tried a set of known good batteries?
Barely cranking over sounds like no power to the starter or defective starter. (And as always on the Dodge- don't forget the ground wiring)
