I've had my injectors in for almost a year now and have never had a code thrown until now and I've had two in the last week. Is this from lugging the engine and having too much fuel and not enough air? All gauges are normal so I don't know why all of a sudden I'm getting this. I'll take a quick look under the hood later but is there any thing I should look for?

 

I had the same code come up on my truck twice in the last month. The first time i shut the truck off and restarted it and the code went away. The second time it stayed and the truck remained in limp mode. I ended up taking that MAP sensor out and cleaning it with carb cleaner. Put it back in and started the truck up and it ran fine. I do have a new MAP sensor ready to put in if this one messes up again.

 

Check and clean your MAP sensor plugs, including that boost fooler you have. After cleaning, besure to use dielectric grease in all of those plugs.

Anyone have the Part number handy for the MAP? My local dealer is full of idiots. Been trying to solve a problem for a while, i think i might give a new MAP a try.

 

Cummins part # 4921505 , Its an updated part and it requires a wiring harness adapter. I got my MAP (also called a Turbo Boost sensor) at cummins for $87, dodge wanted about $140 for just the sensor. The harness at dodge is about $40, cummins didn't have that part. I still need to go buy the harness so I can't help you with the part number.

 

Cummins Part #4921505. Then for your 2002 you'll need an adapter harness Cummins Part #3104228. Try www.hoeslidiesel.com for the above parts. Their prices are some of the best I've seen. Or try your local Cummins dealer. DON'T go to the Dodge dealer. They will charge 2, 3 times more.

 

WOW. www.hoeslidiesel.com has the MAP for $67 something and the adapter harness is under $20.

And yes, Cummins does have this harness. The part number is listed above. I bought one from the local Cummins dealer here in San Diego.
