02 CTD Maintenance
In the owners manual is saying that I got to inspect the damper and the fan hub?
1. How do you check the fan hub properly?
2. How do you check the damper properly?
I'm asking these question because I don't want to ask a the dealer and Chilton hasn't produce a book for 02 CTD.
I'm sure this inspection is because of the vibration the motor produces.

Fan Drive: With the engine cold:
- give the fan a good rotational thrust. If it free wheels less than 5 rotations the fan is good.
- If it rotates more than 5 times the fan viscous drive needs to be replaced.
Thrust on.

Damper: Look for any cracking or deterioration of the rubber ring.
Fan hub: Use a breaker bar to loosen the belt tensioner and try to wobble the fan. If it doesn't wobble and spins quietly, all is good.

As for the fan hub or clutch assem....
The fan clutch will not spin without constant force... Thick oil...
The fan clutch will rock a small amount with belt in place. (thousandth of an inch) ...
As for the fan hub bearing... I will check it out and reply back to you later on ...
