'00 tps problem
had a flat spot in the tps circuit disabling freeway cruising speed and replaced the part, now when its starts up, the ignition wont turn the motor off, something is back feeding from the engine and i had to pull the pcm fuses to disable the motor, has anyone had similar problems with replacement parts? ive got a high startup rpm, and have disconnected the batteries, to calibrate the tps again, not sure what to expect on recalibration startup after it has been sitting, this tps part came from oreilleys.
bad tps, got a replacement, and its all good, the pcm was keeping the relay closed/engine running, the schematic shows apps/pedal up to zero, my suspicions are circuit open/throttle on prevents shutdown, almost sounds like a runaway. since the adjustments are factory, i didnt want to tamper with it.
it was boxed oreillys, no other id, how would you know? i didnt scan for op/range, but did apps full range association to pcm, and seems to work good, truck returned to normal driveability, has anyone taken the tps apart to try and clean the contact point?
The only place to get a Timbo APPS is from Timbo himself. As for servicing your existing unit, I took a look at my old APPS (replaced with a Timbo) and don't see any way to open it without destroying it. There is only a variable resistor strip in there so I don't see that you will accomplish much taking it apart. The APPS problems are usually from dead spots in the resistor strip.
