Angry *Sigh*.....my personal truck is having hard starts.....*Sigh*

WELL I knew it was coming, but I want to make sure it is "IT".
Codes I am getting:
P0341 -- Cam Pos Sensor code....
P0216 -- The dreaded 216.......Injection Timeing Control

Here is what my truck started doing Sat morn....

I got up to go into Dallas around 9 am. Started the truck and let warm up as normal. Drove to the shop, got some tools and then drove the 50 miles to North Dallas. I came to a red light and I started to go and then boom. (I though I dropped the clutch too hard) Truck stalled and wouldn’t start back up. I had to sit on a major intersection for about an hour (WITH NO ONE OFFERING TO HELP PULL MY TRUCK OUT OF THE WAY INTO THE PARKING LOT 30' FROM WHERE I WAS AT!!! I EVEN HAD A TOW STRAP ON THE FNT! But they had time to honk at me.......... Anyone that drove by me at Hebron and Josey...) My sis and bro in-law came with their CRV.........yeah...i know....and pulled me out of the intersection. Sorry...i need to rant! Long story short....she wont start unless either is induced. Wont even try......but once started....runs fine. Little burble at idle though. I drove it to where i was working and finished the job and drove it home the 60+ miles no probs (except the either starting ritual). SO...before i jump on the VP Death wagon.....any possible ideas?

Side note:
Wonder if this had anything to do with my FASS pump locking up the second day i put it on 2 weeks ago and possibly having to drive from Dallas with no pump (Should have gone with gauges first!!!!) and having get a new pump put on the FASS and just getting the truck running 3 days ago..........gasp! How’s that for a run-on!

Im done......

Your injection pump is dead. It was probably caused by the FASS system dying. That's the first FASS failure I've heard of.

Angry

And hopefully the last! Brad said that this was an extremely rare case..(Like the 4th out of thousands! Why can't it work for me and the lotto?).....and I believe him...as I am going to keep the system on my truck and I am not bitter at all. I love the 17 PSI idle pressure and 15 WOT on a heavily moded truck (Not mine )....... BUT I am going to get a fuel pressure gauge ASAP!!!! Now I have to gamble again...and hope I get a good pump.....Thus my VP cherry has been taken!! I feel violated !!!!!

BTW.....I signed your license plate deal...........

Thanks for signing it. To most people it's not a big deal, but to me it is.

Hopefully that is the last failure. Those pumps look very promising. If I had the money and this pump had been out longer, I'd probably have one on my truck to. Might have on in the future actually. I'm lucky. My VP hasn't decided to give up the ghost yet. Hopefully it won't for a very long time.

Your VP might have already been on it's way out before the FASS problems.

Since you don't have a fuel pressure guage,
your original lift pump could have been dying for quite a while before you replaced it with the FASS.

At least you didn't get a bad one from the get go, like mine that died with 4,000 miles on the odometer.
At least I got it out of the way early on.

I hope your grid heaters are disconnected.. Sure they are, but mentioning it just in case...

Sorry to hear about the VP. Maybe the bright side is you can get an updated one that will be more reliable, or a HP version that gives more power.. (Got to get something out of the deal ).

Sad to hear about another VP pump...especially with the FASS.

if it helps...
hopefully no PS'S or Duramax's saw you to rub it in. Too bad about having to kneel to a ricer. LOL if possible.

I just did the lift pump too.

Yeah...well...haha...grids are sorta off....i just pull the hose at the intake and shoot it up in there....then start it......then put the hose back on....i leave the key on for a while....

Now i thought about that....i know the updated VP for the SO's are the 028's. What about using a HO pump in the place of the SO? Would the electronics work and such? And if it did, would i be eating the $800 core? Let me know....i would be very interested.

I have heard that you would pick up performance if you swapped SO injectors into a HO due to the HO's (haha....sorry...ahem) being a little smaller injector. So i would have a little more if I did do that. HUM..........one does his best thinking with his back against the wall!

At least i have the Civic to drive around!!!!

There is a small gain going with the HO pump with SO injectors and it should work. Be warned though, the HO pump is only good for I believe 450 hp. After that it's not that great.

So the SO pump will hold more power? Well...i might just go with the SO pump just to save face and go with the planed 180HP Injectors and such. I don’t want to do this again for a VERY long time..... BUT i do not really want to go ALL out....I would be happy with the proverbial Viper rather than a McLlaren F1 if you can catch my drift. Having a fast truck is improtant...haveing the fastest.....i dont care......
