You'd think a forum search for "Twins" would cut it.

Question You'd think a forum search for "Twins" would cut it.

But I'm left undecided.

I currently have a PDR HX35 hybrid. I understand it'll mate nicely with an HT3B.

That appears to be most cost effective for a basic set of hairdryers that perform well up to a point.

Next might be to swap a S300 for the HX35. That's where I'm stuck. 62, 64, 66mm compressor wheel. . . . ? It just gets more expensive.

What do I want?

The engine is fully built now to comfortably hold 60 to 80psig boost with studs and O-rings. Not sure of that figure though.

I'm currently running DDP4s and can easily go well above 1500*F with at least 2.25mm VE timing. I tell myself I'll eventually get a set of some EDM'ed injectors only to help clean things up smoke wise. I've no plans to carry things any/much further.

It's my understanding the S300's perhaps have an exhaust housing with a better designed waste-gate and therefore may offer better tuning abilities (I assume to help better mate the turbos to control drive pressures).

I just want to fully burn the fuel getting in there and cool it off.

What's y'alls experience, suggestions? Those of you with the basic HX35 hybrid over an HT3B, how's it working for you?

Thanks.

Wrong forum I think. Not too many 1st genners with twins to begin with. Might be better off asking this question in a forum/site where more folks have the 35/ht3b twin setup.

Although I think 'ilikebikes' could probly give you some info. He should have some run time with that setup by now, unless he's sold it to a minor. Other than that I can't help you sorry. I'm just now in the process of building my sp66-14 over a s400. I'll tell ya more in a couple more weekends.

That's the thing Bill, I get the impresson the HX35/HT3B is perhaps a bit small and may not cool like I need.

What is your final HP goal? 35/ht3b should keep 450 cool on a first gen

I'm currently at 400hp and stupid hot. I'm pretty confident that simply adding more air would take it to at least 425 if not more without changing anything else.

I'm not opposed to running an S300 over an S400 but geez that's a lot of green. I just don't want overkill on the air thinking I'll add more fuel. It ain't gonna happen. At the same time, I don't want to spend more money only to find myself short on air.

An s300 will mate up with a HT3b also. I think hanging that HT3b will be a good upgrade for you and keep it cool a s400 will pair up with hx-35 also. I dont think you can go wrong doing twins with the HX if you dont plan on adding much fuel. It is lightly traveled territory in a first gen. Maybe run more water and less meth.

Try a 62/71/14 BC. It will be a huge cooling improvement over that 35.
It can also be used for a top turbo. Much bigger top turbo than this could be a dog.
My second suggestion would be a 62/65/14.
What is a PDR hx-35 anyway; I've forgotten. 58/??/14?

58mm compressor, stock hx35 turbine wheel, I don't know what size though. Doesn't come with a turbine housing.

I personally, not ever having or building twins, would use your stock turbo with the ht3b below it. From everything i've read its a good performing setup. It may not be the newest, best and most technologically advanced twin setup, but it has been proven and is no doubt the best bang for your dollar.

just my 2 cents.

I'm running the PDR HX35 Hybrid (HX 40 compressor wheel?) with a waste-gated 14cm exhaust housing.

And two cents well spent I'm thinking. Just, will it be enough to keep my heap relatively cool when run hard as compared the the single HX35 hybrid?

do you tow? 5sp or auto?

twins are not the "end all"... if you are only running 400-450hp, I'd put a single 62mm on it and have some fun! the EGT's will still get warm, but spool up will be much quicker than twins. I think you'll like it enough to leave it on there indefinately, but if it's still not enough, THEN hang another turbo under IT

Go with a larger single. 62 or 64 s300. It will cool lots better than that 35. Are you running a 14mm head? Wongering how much fuel you have..... the 35 is just not up to 400+ ponies
