yes hx40 ?

hey all i sorry to bring up hx40 ?s yes i know i could of did a dtr search which did and learned from what i read on here but still hav ?s and i think if u answear these ?s it will also help others out to. so i know the hx40 goes on different applications so u couldnt just go to any motor that has hx40 and expect it to work on my/ur 5.9 12valve.

when shopping for hx40
1.what exhaust houseing is good (exp) 12cm 14cm
2.what intake houseing is good (exp) 12cm 14cm
3.how many blades on intake or exhaust side of turbo is ideal for a smile
4 and is there a certain exhaust flange to look for/to have on the hx40 when putting them on our trucks
5. when putting hx40 on auto could the same one be put on a stick or would the houseing have to be change for different spool ups.

ill be putting hx40 on a auto.

The smallest exhaust housing is a 16cm.

The HX40 is a 4" exhaust only.

You want a T3 exhaust flange.

On a stick truck. If it had a 18cm or a 16cm housing. you wouldn't notice much difference. If the truck had a 12cm housing you would notice the lag of the bigger housing.

What you want is a 60/65/16 HX40 with a T3 flange. You'll have to make up a 4" downpipe.

The one you want will only be found on a 24 valve C-series. If it's a 12 valve, don't even bother looking.

A 24 valve B series in a Ottawa yard truck uses the same turbo as a 24 valve C series.

Yeah its a pretty good HX35 with a 58mm compressor wheel (should)

wastegated 12cm housing... it'd be a quick quick spooler and lots of fun in a 5 speed truck.

All the 24valve Stick trucks had HX35's and the Autos had (HY35's)
I'd get that if you can get it for $200 or less. That'd be fun on your truck.

Banks actuator just keeps the wastegate closed to a higher manifold pressure. It costs about $400 to have one rebuilt at a turbo place, so its not a bad price, but I wouldn't waste my money on it.

I have a few questions about the HX40:

What is this "modification" that PDR does to "make a 16cm spool like a 14cm"?

The 40 I have has the 6 blade comp. Is this the Super 40 for a few years back?

The tag on it lists a Garret P/N, whats up with that?

Is it a good idea to drill out the wastegate divider like on a HX35?

I think PDR polishes it or something. or machines it out.

"gearjammer" has one

I thought the super 40 has a 7 blade comp..

On the B series 24 valve for a HX40 it would be a Ottawa yard truck. That is the only app I have seen the HX40 used on a B series.

Nothing like a screaming HX40 threw a 5" stack 4' from your right ear. When your draging 60K of loaded trailer it does scream.

60 is compressor wheel size (pushes air)

65 is exhaust wheel

16 is exhaust housing size.
