WTS light flashing/not charging
WTS light flashing/not charging
can these two issues be related? my WTS light flashes very evenly-not a bad connection-very patterned. my mechanical voltage gauge shows me the alt is not charging. my grid heaters are NOT hooked up, so i am not seeing any kind of large drain from them. it did this last weekend, but i shut it off and restarted it-all was well. today, it is doing it again, and several restarts have not made it go away. today was the first time i used the truck since the last time it happened.
temps are in the 20s, truck is kept in an unheated shop, has no trouble starting.
any ideas?

no, dont be sorry. i like to get rid of ecms.
since my truck is now a 5spd, i dont have a/c, i dont have cruise, i dont have grid heaters, and if i run an external voltage regulator, i really have no need for the ecm; correct?
i did a ecm/factory wiring harness delete on another '92, but ended up having trouble with things like headlights/blinkers, and windshield wipers.
so really, all i need to do is get an ext regulator, and i'll be ok w/out ecm input
