Bill Gilbert provided some excellent advice several years ago and the part number in this thread is still accurate:

The single most useful tool in replacing these nylon bushings is a good pair of ChannelLocks.

HMMMMM?????
I am glad this question was brought up.
The truck that I just finished doing only had screws across the forward edge of the cowl-cover; I took those out and it just slipped right off.
I am doing another in a day or so and might have wondered what was going on, had I removed all the visible screws and still no go.
If it still has those screws, I will most likely not re-install them.
They were not on the son's truck and we were none the wiser.

What I have found is that they are push pins to just hold down the wiper cowl under the windshield molding. At least that is how it has been with both my trucks. I have looked at both and there is no screw marks. HTH
Roughly about 3-5 inches in from the windshield lower corners, up under the rubber, mine had screws in there. Unfortunately, I dont remember how many were under the rubber of the windshield. I know one on each side, but cant remember if there were any in or towards the middle. I didnt reinstall them either, as the rubber was more than suffecient to hold it down.
Thus far, on both trucks that I have done, in the location where GIT-R-DID found screws, I have found headed locater-pins.
The cowl-cover is notched in those TWO spots, right where GIT-R-DID described.
I figure some of the earlier, or maybe later, cabs got the screws.
