Why would anyone put a plastic bottlecap under the AFC top above the diaphram?

Thanks for all the replies guys.
Where to start......
Justagood, I might take you up on that sometime.

G1625s, I never hit 1100*, boost is around 18,(empty) I am putting on a new filter as part of this job.

dpuckett, I did notice the pin popping out. I cycled it and hit that area with penetrant. I will research the advance piston. I don't know what to look for on that. Sorry about your 16.

digums, Define peg.

Stomp, I will check that.

If you can afford it, throw a lift pump at it. The VE will pull its own fuel without a lift pump, but has a hard time pulling fuel THROUGH a shot lift pump. Is it possible your throttle is indexed wrong? For under 1100, 18psi doesn't indicate a boost leak.

before my htt turbo upgrade with the stock 18.5cm housing and stock injectors i could hit 1350-1400 on the pyro and just over 30 lbs of boost i would check into the things others have listed you should be able to get some more power out of it

I think I am gonna replace the lift pump while the IP is out. I don't know if I will be able to tell what did what, but if it is better overall I will be very happy.

BTW... I am not putting the bottlecap back in.

Peg=1300 to 1400 degrees with an 18.5 hotside. Around 31 or 32 pounds of boost. For a stock truck, it will set you back in the seat. Before the 19.5's it would boil the rear tires.

You're not making a big pile of boost there, that's for sure. I'm running a stock fuel pin, turned to the deepest point, probably 6 turns on the AFC spring, 2 turns on the smoke screw, and about 5 turns on the max power screw. I'm making 27 psi, with 1100 peak empty(so far) with an 18.5 hotside. Quite frankly, the truck hauls, and I only make smoke down low before the turbo spools, so, a puff and then off it goes... Sure makes me wonder why I spent years playing with V8 diesels... LOL

When I first started to play with my truck I started with the 16cfm housing and then the old smokey fuel pin. It made a difference but not to much. Then I started playing with the power screw. All of a sudden I was at 25 psi and a huge put you into your seat feel. Still very little smoke. Then I changed the gov spring to the 3200 spring and another huge difference except that as soon as I got in the throttle with the settings the same as before the spring it would smoke out the street and stop traffic. Egt's would hit 1500 no problem. So after turning down the power screw I've set it to max egt's at just over 1200deg after a long full throttle pull up a hill. Still a noticable difference with the spring, more power and does not defuel as soon as before. best 35 bucks (including the gasket kit) I ever spent.

Point of the story, if you don't have one you should get one.
Also my 4" exhaust gave me 2-3psi boost and lower egt's by 100deg. Truck's more fuel efficent than it's was when I bought it stock.
