Just wondering how that worked out. The piston pumps are rebuildable? How much is a rebuild kit and where would I get one if I decide to go that route? I think I can get a 2nd gen style very reasonable.

I run a 2nd gen pump with its own big pickup through 3/8" line with a bypass regulator.

I posted an updated list of parts to convert to the correct piston pump last year. It should be in the "sticky". The pump is for an industrial engine and it puts out 15 psi at cruise. This is much easier than converting a second gen. pump. The whole conversion cost just over two hundred bucks. That included the pump, gaskets, fuel lines and spacer.

OK, I thought some cat on here was experimenting with some different pumps he had and was going to take a 2nd gen piston pump and install the low pressure 1st gen spring inside so he had a higher volume, low pressure pump.

These will answer all your questions and give you a few more to think about.

I didn't see these posts until after I had already put in the standard 2nd gen piston LP. 3rd time's the charm

I have been running the 2nd Gen pump with the 1st gen spring inside for a while now, six months maybe. Never did get a pressure guage put on it. But it all works fine. I was a little unethical about getting the 2nd gen pump. Bought one from a major chain auto parts store, swapped bodies, spring, and port adapters and then returned the part in unused condition. I already had purchased a 1st gen pump from cummins.

Truck has plenty of fuel, I could turn it up if I wanted but I like keeping EGT's under 1200.
