I just noticed a whine at low RPM the other day when I was driving. It sounds like a small block gaser with a timing gear set instead of a chain or almost a power steering pump low on fluid. I checked the fluid and the pump was replaced a year ago. Its not very loud but definitely noticeable. It sounds like its coming from the turbo side of the engine. I just installed the HE351CW and I'm hoping its not that. Anyone with any thoughts? Thanks!

 

Try running it without the belt on. That will narrow down the possibilities.

 

you sure youre not just making boost at low rpm? stupid question but i bet that turbo is making some noise that the h1c didnt.

 

It is definitely making boost but, it is a whine not a whistle and I am just being over cautious. Its not my daily driver but, when I do use the truck I am traveling usually with a trailer or load on the back. I am hoping is just a new boost sound!!! I'm gonna check into it tomorrow.
