Yes, x2 Kudos to Larry et al. Lets also not forget WannaDiesel who was the top volume poster on the entire site, and helpful to many - especially newcomers. Now that I think about it, there was a bit of a falling out when Wanna trans'd from male to female and changed her name to Faith. I thought that it was dealt with respectfully and we were all allowed to let it sink in, but there were more than a few that bailed. I think the time Wanna invested on here was a huge if not the single force that built up this forum to be the most active first gen related BBS online.

There was that one time when Wanna banned my buddy IRL Locomotive1 for flapping his jaws politically and defying the rules in regards to making flea market for sale posts on here a bit too much. He's a great guy in person, real considerate, just maybe jaded with bad habits by other sites namely Pirate 4x4.

This forum is by far the one I've contributed to most, on all the interwebs.

I have only been around here since 2009, so a newby still , but one of the things that I liked about this forum is that newby generally is not treated like a dirty word and there is not a lot of negativity. It is the negativity that destroys forums, in my opinion. Why somebody would take the time and effort to post about how much they don't like a post, without offering up any help? Seems counter productive to me. It did seem as if my proclivity (impressed?) for running no water in my antifreeze was the catalyst for some pretty bizarre threads in the past year, so I changed my signature so as to not rub people's noses in it, even though I still don't know why some people took what I do to my own truck so personal. To each their own. Here's to hoping that Thor isn't riding a stallion behind the eclipse tomorrow, coming to smight the morons of earth, I read it on the internet, so it's true, Right?

Mark,

You've always been an upstanding, respectful kind of guy. You just happen to love pure antifreeze. No one will fault you for that.... well at least most of us won't.

This site, indeed, is the best out there BECAUSE of the mods and the work they do to keep things civil.

Period.

Faith is a great individual, kind to a fault. She is missed around here and we hope life is going well for her. I took a lot of grief because I stood up for her but I considered her a friend for many years and I don't dump friends because they hit a tough spot in life.

No one can deny the contributions made to this forum and the community as a whole by her over the years, pretty remarkable indeed

Ah, I long for those days when I could saddle up to a good bottle of high quality malt antifreeze, good memories, except during the blackouts . Nowadays, it's just a good vintage unsweetened tea ...Mark

NJT I wasn't referring to you or any other good member who genuinely try and help others. I was referring to the certain ones who come off disrespectful. I 100% agree saying to a new member the phrase "Others have asked a similar question and the best known solution was done and placed in the sticky section, here is how you find it". That is perfectly fine in my book. What I was referring to was the people who use the phrase "Oh wow another guy asking the same old thing". Or " Just look in the sticky its been done before". I am not a person who pays much attention to be politically correct. But when someone is knew and trying to learn from very knowledgeable and respectful members. Instead they think were all buttheads who are judgmental and closed minded. I rarely ask questions but when I was building my RC I asked a ton of questions. Not once did anyone ever act that way with me. If they had I might have felt differently about this site.

I'm GLAD to have access to a forum with so much knowledge base!

I am the newbie... new to mechanicing, new to antique trucks (25 yr old truck) and new to diesels... I've driven my old piece for several years before I decided to keep her and fix all the problems and neglect

I'm sure some of the questions I've asked have been repeated time and again... I've been pointed to the sticky several times a glad it was there ... some of you guys have graciously walked me through some wiring and charging issues ... I'm getting ready to tear into my transmission (never would ever considered it ... wouldn't even attempted to start the job) and make some adjustments based on what I've read and read and read through and several threads I've posted ... all right here on DTR

I've never tried to prove my point cause I got no point to prove ... just looking for ideas and help... which I always received.

All that is good, great, wonderful, etc...
But the thing I'm most definitely pleased with is the CLEANLINESS of this forum!!!

My wife and I have made a point to guard our children from many things that abound on the web ( and everywhere else for that matter) and they will eventually be exposed to alot of "stuff" even if I do my best... I'm teaching them and laying down safeties and guidelines so when the exposure comes they can make (Lord willing) right choices.

I now have a 15 yr old ... guess what he's interested in ... wheels!! Transportation is the name of the game... he ain't got no money ... I ain't got a lot of it so new or newer vehicles not in the picture right now... I make the suggestion to get an old fixer upper and learn to mechanic and learn to maintain and learn some auto body (all the while getting tools and some skill sets) and after a bit you got a cool old ride that everyone gives you a thumbs up on when ya drive by!

And here ... DTR ... I can sit with him and surf through thread after thread and both of us learn then go out and put our hands to work spending quality time as father and son ... and for the most part I don't hafts worry about TRASH and TRASHY talk in the threads

My hats off to the administration for the job they do and to most everyone that posts ... thank you for the help, patience, and "free" knowledge

Only hope I can stick around long enough to start contributing some answers!!!

A Very Satisfied DTR Member

I agree...this forum is the only one I am still active on. I don't post often because frankly most people here know more than me. I log on to learn. That being said, it is one of the last forums where the members are civil to one another and the moderators are friendly and fair. Behavior and language on some "competing" sites is appalling. I would agree with previous posters that the trucks are becoming far less common, many questions have already been answered, work and family responsibilities etc. There are just a handful of these 1st gens left in the county I live in...I know every one of them. The nice ones are becoming expensive collectables and most of the few left on the market are very rough here in the Midwest. Glad this site exists and is still a wealth of information.

Man, oh man, I sure want to speak my thoughts, but I think I'll keep this to myself. Or better yet, how about the rated PG version?
A lot of you all don't come on here much, due to work and such. I've been on this site reading not only thru new treads everyday, but old, old search treads, schooling myself this last year due to a major surgery last September. I had nothing better to do.
And now with the recent decision to retire out, I'm on here a lot. I hate to say this, but there are a few folks on here that slide under the radar, popping off to newbies very so often, then right here on this post, they're singing a different song. Fence riders, I call them.

I'm not perfect, and have never claimed to be, but I can honestly say I've never popped off to someone on here with a worthless reply.

I'm glad the original poster put this tread on, as it has opened up some eyes. I'd just like to see honesty, and no hypocrites.

All right, rant over.
