""wheel bearing seals""
""wheel bearing seals""
I went straight to the sticky to do the ball joints ( up& lower), replaced bad wheel bearings inner & outer, but the inner seals were turned over from the ones in the sticky----have i also been putting them in wrong???? The groove faces out?????
7 out
7 out
The lips, with the spring, go towards the bearing. Did you replace the bearing cones also?..Mark
Yea, mark who ever did the job before me didn't have hardly any grease on them , the spindel was dry & rusty . I replaced both races & bearings, now i;v got to do the the other side& the ball joints just to be sure( it's always somthing when you follow someone elses work). Thanks your answer means i put my seals in right,
Like he said, the lips with the spring face the bearing.
I have seen people install them backwards.
I like the much better version on my Ford Dana-70; it has a lot more meat and a big flange that seats against the perimeter of the hub.
With care, I can even coax one of those out to inspect the bearing/race and not damage it.
I can't ever remember to check the compatibility on a Dodge Dana-70.
I like to fill that spring lip cavity with Kendall L-427 Super-Blu.
