well like it says whats a valve tap sound like? is it loud or faint? will u hear it at idle or only under acceleration?

Its really hard to discern from that sweet sweet cummins sound. Adjust your valves and dont worry about the sounds! Enjoy!

 

You hear the valves most when going downhill with the truck pushing the engine.

 

just adjusted my vavles last night, I don't think they had been done for a long time since they were all at least .002 loose. It really quieted her up at idle, and while coasting like wanna said. Its not hard, give it a shot.

 

I heard mine when i would accelerate and let off the throttle and you can deffinatly hear it, you will hear the noise if you pay good attention to it, I adjusted my valves and there is no more ticking, It is a simple task that don't cost anything any only takes about 20 min
