what the with starting

OK what the heck am i missing hear ,I have a no start issue going on
1 starter is GOOD
2 start /run relay new
3 ing. switch new
4 new neutral/reverce switch
so I go to start my truck 75% of the time it fires right up
other 25% I get nothing absolutely nothing ,turn key no click no sound noda. if i hold the key at start pos, power to the cluster goes out ,let it go and power is back.
I can pop the hood jump the starter and it fires up ,if I turn the key a bunch of times (random) it will fire or let it sit 10min its fine ,I tried moving shifter no help ,I think 1 of the new parts might be bad it never does it when everything is cold only after the whole truck has warmed up . I have cleaned and added grounds just cant find it . any thoughts?

First guess is power from the batt back. When your key takes out the gauge cluster to me it indicates a bad connection. You could verify by having the headlights on while cranking, if they just dim when it doesn't turn over, your connections are likely fine, if they go out, check cabling.

Typically I will start diagnosing this type of problem at the starter relay. With a test light, you can quickly see if the ign switch is failing to energize the relay winding, if the neutral safety switch is failing to ground the relay winding, or if the 12v is making it through the relay contacts toward the starter solenoid. Then you will have a specific direction to go in with tracing a circuit.

Add the push-button anyway; direct from HOT to that BROWN wire that feeds the solenoid, thus taking all the usual suspects out of the loop.

Due to a broken key-switch, I put a starter-button in the wife's truck and she likes it better than the key-switch.

Even if one uses the key-switch all the time, a starter-button is good insurance that will keep one from having to go outside and be poking around under the hood.

A flip-switch that controls the fuel-solenoid is also good, providing that it is still operative.

Honestly, there are a few that I really don't remember just what they do.

There are a BUNCH, that's for sure.
