what size tires for my new rims
i bought a set of 17x9" american racing rims, theyre black steel with chrome center caps and theyre going to look sweet. my question is what size rubber will i be able to fit? has anybody run the same setup before? the truck sits fairly low being 2wd. right now the biggest i can fir are 245/55's. i think i could go to 265/40R17. what do u think?
I think on 2wd, 265 is about as wide as you can go with just enough clearance. Do the new wheels have the same or close to the same backspacing as the factory steels you have now?
More backspacing means they'll be tucked inward more, closer to the frame. I would say, mount them on the truck and take some measurements to see just what you have room for. Put the floor jack or jack-stand under the lower control arm to keep the suspension loaded to simulate ride height.
