What needs to be looked at when replacing the rear main seal?
So I'm going to go get my rear main seal for my truck since its in dire need of it. While I'm at it, I'm going to replace the clutch with a Southbend Con OFE kit. Is there anything else I should replace while I'm in there? Also, last time I got a seal from my local cummins dealer, it was almost highway robbery on the price, are NAPA seals any good or should I stick to a genuine cummins seal?
As well the gaskets for the mating surfaces on my tranny to transfer case, tranny to bell housing are shot. Can a guy get these at NAPA or are they Dodge specific? Could I use a thick bead of Ultrablack RTV in place of the gaskets?
Thanks in advance

You can get a Felpro rear main gasket set. It comes with the rear main seal and the adaptor mating gasket. When you go to put the adaptor gasket on make sure it sits right. The gasket is a little long and you will have to cut it down a bit. At the corners where the gasket meets the block and oil pan, put a small dab of RTV silicone before you assemble.
With any seal I always pack the backside of the seal with grease so as to not have the spring fall out. I have had the spring fall out a few to many times and hate fighting to get it back in. I also hate installing a seal dry.
You should be able to get the gasket between the transfer case and transmission without a problem. A good parts guy should be able to help you out.
