Looking at getting a 55 gallon drum, but I think it would take 10 years to use it all.

When I can, I buy my oil and such in five-gallon buckets.

Not only is it cheaper and I get a nice bucket in the deal, but I always get from one to three quarts extra oil.

I have a bunch of clear plastic gallon jugs that HI-C drink came in.

I poured a brand-new store bought gallon jug of oil into one of these clear jugs and marked the level with a permanent marker.

I then dumped this oil back into the original jug and double-checked my measurement by pouring one quart at a time into a quart-sized kitchen measuring-cup, then pouring this into the clear jug, marking the level at each quart; the fourth quart agreed with my "gallon" mark.

For convenience and easier pouring, I pre-measure the five-gallons into these clear jugs; I always end up with from one to three quarts extra, making the bucket purchase even more of a bargain.

I just switched to Amsoil 15W-40. I used to change my oil every 5 to 7 k but they say with amsoil you can send in a sample and they will tell you if you really need to change it. So far I have about 3800 miles on the last change so I am in no hurry to send in a sample.. I use their oil filter too.

Something terrible has happened...
It is now Plus-50 II and is CJ rated:
Exceeds API CJ-4

There is still an old Plus-50, but it is a 0W-40 and is only CH-4 rated.

ive been running rotella 5-40 for about a year, haven't had an analisis done yet on it. before that, the pig had delo 400, every 3 months for 8 yrs. Its a pretty clear case of procrastination when Ive had the little jug that blackstone sends you, full of the rotella that lubed up the cummins on my drive up here last year, loaded at over 10 ton, sitting behind my seat for 8 months. that might tell me something.

Before the government mandated change-over to the watered-down CJ4 stuff, I used mostly Valvoline Blue or Chevron Delo 400.

Back when Shell Rotella T was still Shell Rotella T, I used it in everything; I quit the Rotella way back when they sold the rights to the name to some other company, Pennzoil if I remember correctly.

Great minds think alike, I won't dump that cj-4 crap in my motor.
