What a day

Well today on my way home I took a back way so I could take a 0 to 60 video to post up here. The first try I lost traction bad so I stopped and just rolled into the throttle. Everything went well till I let off the throttle and I heard the horrible sound of the fan eating my radiator. The fan shroud was broke in the center at the bottom and the fan had hit the rad. I bent the blades away from the rad and drove it the 1/4 mile home. I pulled the rad and saw that the fan had hit the little strap that is made on the rad. There are 2 straps on each side they are maybe 1/4 inch wide. I am not sure if the fan was pulling so much air that it sucked the strap back into the fan, or if the shroud broke and the fan hit it then bent and hit the strap and the strap beat the crap out of the rad. Either way I need the truck bad tomorrow so I pulled the rad and removed the 5 cores that were leaking and soldered the holes up in the tank. I dont really think that the 5 missing tubes will make much difference in the cooling. Oh and to make it worse the videos are all messed up anyway. How can I take a video on my phone then when I try to play it back it says the video in in an unreadable format? Stupid smart phone!!!!! sorry

Sorry to hear it. I think the missing tubes won't hurt unless you tow heavy but you might want to take a peek at the motor mounts while you're in there.

I experienced a similar mess. The stock/OEM fan blade had developed cracks around the root of the blades. Spinning things up had the weakened blades move forward and into the radiator.

The mounts are good the more I think about it the more I think that the shroud caught the fan and started the whole mess

check the fan hub bearing in its housing. had that problem a few years ago. hub was cracked, let the load on the fan pull the bearing out of the housing.

I have a complete electric setup but it became way to temperamental. I removed it a few months back and put the stocker back on.
