Weekend project - Complete non i/c to i/c swap.

Just as the title says, I converted my non i/c '90 to an i/c '90. Most of you probably know which parts are different but for those who don't, I swapped high pressure fuel lines, delivery valves and holders, throttle bracket, new intake manifold plate, new radiator, fan shroud, new upper and lower hoses (lower hose is actually the same), new t-stat and seal, t-stat housing, fan hub bracket and pulley, core support, a/c condenser and a/c compressor mounting bracket. All of this just to have the i/c grill and make installing a PS i/c much easier! I have about 60 pictures but I'll try to limit which ones I post by showing the most important details.

Immediately after swapping fans, I noticed that even with an 1/8" spacer behind the clutch nut, the fan blades were dangerously close to my Fluidampr.

So, for now, I placed another washer behind the one I was already using to space the fan forward just a hair more. I do plan on buying the updated fan and clutch assembly. The new clutch itself should eliminate the need for a spacer or spacers in my case.

It looks like a completely different truck to me. I'm happy with the outcome!

Yeah, the '91.5 in my sig was the donor truck that I picked up back in february. I had both trucks parked side by side swapping parts from one to the other. The '91.5 is now a non i/c lol.

Why did you have to change the delivery valves and holders? Does the 1/4" difference in length require this? I thought there was enough slack in the lines and you didn't have to do this? I'm doing the same engine parts swap right today and was hoping I didn't have to get involved in this particular problem tomorrow.

Why are you changing so much parts? I'm gonna be picking up just a stock intercooler from 91.5 with rad support, tubes and intake housing on the turbo from my reading that's all that needs to be changed.

Almost forgot throttle bracket piece rad and t-stat housing plus upper hose.

I know it wasn't a necessity but I just wanted to be entirely i/c. To each his own, right?

you do know that the NON I/C delivery valves flow more than the I/C delivery valves? the NON I/C valves have a .100" hole through `em, and the I/C valves have a .075" hole. also, the NON I/C valves are 5/8" longer. I know this `cause I measured `em all when I put`em on my tweaked VE pump that`s going on my 24V 5.9 with moded 275 injectors.

You know, I've always heard about this but never actually saw any proof in numbers from anyone until now. Would the non i/c DV's still work in the i/c DV holders?

Looks good Jimbo....

I'm going to be swapping in a 91.5-93 grille on my crew very soon. But I'm keep my Non-IC rad support, rad blah blah blah. My swap will be a little more involved.

Good info I'm going to convert my Crew Cab using a 90 Non I/C as a donor and will want a inter cooler sooner or later.
