Water temp gauge, fast answer?

Im gonna drop my electric Autometer gauge in in the morning. Will the factory sending unit work with it or do I need to pull it and put the autometer sender in? Fast answer, like I always get, would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Put the new sender in the thermostat housing, There are two plugs you can remove, 1 on the top(may trap air) and reading wont be accurate, and 1 on the side facing alternator(accurate) location, That is where mine is and it works great!
You may need a reducing bushing made of black pipe or brass from home depot,,, I think it is an 1/8 npt X 3/8 npt,,,, or X 1/2 npt, easy job once you get the old plug out!
Peter.

Sounds good. My gauge came with all sizes of fittings though, so lucked out there. Thanks a bunch!

However, after looking, I dont see the one facing the alternator. Theres a spot down under the thermostat housing, but it has a line coming out of it. As long as the water level stays full, the top plug should never see air should it?

Put in the top one, that's where I've had mine for a few years. You most likely will have to build a spacer so to speak out of fittings because the aftermarket temp sensor will bottom out in the head.

I think I had a 1/2npt male to 1/2npt male in the head. Then a 1/2npt female to 1/2npt female on top of that fitting. Then you have enough room for your temp sensor and fitting(s) included in the kit.
