water leaking into cab??

Hey guys

I know mines not diesel, i wish it was. But you guys have the best 1st gen forum and sticky for body and interior and what not that applies to my truck. Mines an 82 d150.

My problem is that there is water on the driver side that is leaking in somewhere from the firewall area? I opened the door today and had a nice puddle from our non stop rain the past day. Its not the vent on the side under the dash, already looked there. It seemes to be coming fom the windshield are? Im not sure because the insulation is in the way. I know the gutter around the windshield is a little cracked in the seem, could that cause water to leak in through the "A" pillar and travel down behind the dash? when it was dry i took some water and poured it over the windshield and the gutter in the area but it didnt leak.

Any help or suggestions would be much aprreciated.

Thanks
Cody

The front windshield gaskets are famous for leaking. Mine leaks around the top, the sides, the bottom...as well as you could have a cowl crack?

You might also have a look at this link, found in the sticky. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...t-t264729.html

Thanks for the link but that was the first thing I looked at. The source is higher up behind the dash. I'm gonna pulle the nose of the truck into the garage and take the cowl grille off to see if the leak might be in there. If not I'll look under the dash more and pull the insulation back. Thanks for the input though!

Check the rain gutter above the windshield. Also with the wiper cover off look at the bottom corner curve area of the windshield. Some have a glob of sealer that cracks.

I wasn't able to get the wiper blade arms off. But I did pull the insulation back in the corner and on the inside I think you're talking about the same corner but on the outside? Is a big gob of sealer thy was cracked so I took some silicone sealer and covered it up. I also used the silicone on the side vent. It wasn't leaking but just wanted to prevent it from doing so. If it keeps leaking I'll put new sealer in the rain gutter.
