Looks great! Should be pretty effective if you can get good airflow across that radiator.

the water pump is from a mustang interooler setup It has its own switch and water guage so I will be able to see how warm the intercooler is getting and then use the fan as needed.

I brought up this same idea alittle over a year ago and everyone said it wouldnt work and it was dumb. I'm glad to see someone trying it. I thought it would work really well. Good luck and nice work.

I think most people just felt that an Air to Air one would be more effective at achieving lower temperatures. To some extent that is true but you have to be moving to get air across it. With an air to water one you can have a fan on the little radiator, you might not achieve as low of temperatures as an ATA one but the temperatures would probably be more constant and fluctuate less. Thats my consensus I may be wrong. But a WTA one seems easier for Non IC trucks to me.

I think I am missing something here?

I am lookng at pic below...

why not put the little radiator in front like a regular intercooler?
it seems to me if yo are running this, then you would not have regular intercooler? or does the new one not fit behind grill?

Yep, it's not in a Dodge, it's a Chevy conversion. There's really no room for an air-to-air on those mid '90's trucks. The 6.5 boys usually put a long skinny one under the front bumper, but those are expensive and vulnerable.

yep thaats about right, I had the radiator custom made and its in the center of the front core support, on a chevy the part where I have the metro rediator is full of large air holes and I drilled some more to help it get more air,
with my ac condensor and my oversized tranie cooler I am just about touching the grill, and my research shows this setup has alot less turbo lag then a standard intercooler since I have much less volume to fill up, now in a truck that is in hot weather going up a pass overlimit then a air to water will work better, but this truck is mostly going to be empty and for the occasional smoking at lights this will have plenty of water volumn to keep it cool. What I would really like to know is on a non ic what the air temp is going into the manifold at diffrent boost lvls so I have a way to compare.

I also put i water to air intercooler on my truck (non i/c 91)before the intercooler the charge air temp was 589*@35 psi, with the water to air intercooler running ice water throw it the boost went down to 27 psi and the charge air temp went down to 120* on a 1/4 mile run, went from 15.08@88 to a 14.49@90 in the 1/4
here is a pic of my setup

I am assuming both of you guy's boxes are home-built, right ??

What, exactly, is inside those aluminum shells doing the work ??

Do either of you, or anyone else, have internal pictures of the cooler ??

Thanks.

My setup is simalar except the radiator is under the bed, that allowed a lot bigger of a surface area.
