water in fuel
water in fuel
ok so i was out washing my truck and lifted the hood and noticed it was pretty dirty so i sprayed the crap out of it with the hose. i thought afterward i wonder if water could have gotten in to the engine. well i went and turned the key to see if the water in fuel light came on and it did. what could have happened? i had disconnected the censor on the fuel filter because it went bad so where else is there a sensor to try and help narrow watever this is down

It is probably ruined beyond repair.
Or, you simply shorted the water-in-fuel circuit; the light should go out when the water dries; UNLESS, the pressure of the water somehow smashed the two wires against each other.
Just blow out the WIF sensor connector with compressed air and the light will go out. I wash my engine compartment every time I wash my truck and this happens sometimes because I lost the rubber gasket from the inside of the connector.
You could try to pack the connector with dielectric grease to waterproof it.
