Jim on your jumper setup. Have you ever seen one of the those plugs that was made into a flush type mounting box?

I have looked and not found anything.

You can get top post with studs.

Side terminal batteries have smaller internal connections to the stud. For normal loads of starting and vehicle usage it will work. Winches and snow plows have caused burn out problems in heavy usage apps.

Phillip,
Do you mean something like these?

I have a set of these jumper cables made by Associated that I got off a tow truck that I used to drive, I installed a 24-volt system to start transit busses.
I think they are propritary to Associated.

If not these, there is a flush mount Anderson conector.

Check here.

Thanks for the link Jim. The model you posted is not what I was looking for. I have found those before. The model 6125 is what I have been looking for. So something else on the list of parts to buy.

I use the military terminals. The thing I like about them is that you can attach them to the battery terminals and never have to remove them. If yo have to disconnect the battery you just unbolt them from the back of the terminal.
Taking terminals on and off the terminal post is what stretches them out and breaks them. I

Ofelas, you make up your own cables? Or did you sub it out? What size cable are you using for the + n - ? Lastly, lengths? I'm in a situation where if I went with your style makeup, I just want to have them built, pull out my old, and slip in the new, then drive away. Once I head back to work, I won't have the luxury of pulling out the old, and taking my cables in to get matched up.
Lastly, who is the manufacturer of your battery? What are the cca specs?

We have been getting our batterys from Sacramento battery in west Sacramento for years with good no problems. we used the stud post on the log truck since they came out. It hadn't
occurred to me to use that type of battery until you started this thread.

I have about 12 junk batterys that they will buy then I will use the money to buy a new one. I did the same thing last time I needed a battery.

All I have seen is a hand full of pictures. But from those I have a pretty good guess what it is like
