Wait to Start

On my 89, the wait to start light and the water in fuel light don't come on when I turn the key on , but they do light up when I go ahead and turn the key to crank the engine. Any ideas? I think I hooked all the wiring back correctly. Thanx

I think you switched the dark blue and the yellow wires on the brain box. Sounds like it's getting the "key on" signal when you crank the engine.

It's on the firewall down near the brake booster. Black box about 3"x5".

I'll check that tomorrow night, but I don't think I messed with that, I just unplugged the main connector between the interior of the cab and the engine bay; the 2 boxes that join the wiring from the 2 together, but I'll check anyway. the guy I had working on it split this summer and I'm just getting it put back together. Thanx My dash lights will not light up either!

I took the dash out twice last night and I still can't get the wait to start lite to cycle correctly. My grid heaters don't seem to be snapping on and off either.
What the heck could be the deal. I don't seem to have any wires not connected, but I'm not getting along to well. The lite still comes on when I turn the key far enough to start the truck. Thanx

Are they trigger wires secured on the posts? Mine grid heaters relays have loose trigger wires and when i tightend them my grid heaters cycle but only when the truck is running. Whats wrong?

Are the trigger wires on the solenoids or where? on my 89 both solwnoids have one hot side on each solenoid; on my 93 only one solenoid has a hot side all the time. Surely someone knows whats cooking. Thanx

the trigger wires should be on the relays there should be two small wires with a boot on them that push onto the studs on the drivers side of the relays. Hope this helps

What is a core support ? Sorry to be so stupid, but the wiring just leaves me in the dark. I looked in the service manual and I couldn't seem to make heads or tails in there. I was hoping Jim Lane would chime in solve this.
