both of the shops that have worked on my truck have complained about receiving the wrong parts from distributors
the current shop ran my VIN for NYS inspection purposes and it came up as a GASSER
EDIT it, only a tool like me could have overpaid for a "restored" 1st-gen and then sunk thousands more into it, just to find out that it was re-powered at some point in the last nineteen years
that's one important factoid that the CarFax didn't uncover

You can check the VIN numbers on the frame locations to see if they match. It's unlikely that all of your VIN numbers on the body and frame match if somebody "restored" it using used parts.
The "C" in the VIN IN '91 indicates a diesel. A typical number would be:
