I have been noticing that when ever I turn the wheels while in motion more than half way I get a vibration. It does not feel like it is the tires, it feels more like drivetrain related. I have heard of motor mounts failing and causing vibration when loaded. Do you guys have any suggestions?<br>Paul

 

I had the same problem, and had a buddy, who is a mechanic have a look at it, and it turned out to be the rear diff. The oil had broken down and the clutches? started chattering when ever I would make a slow fairly hard corner. Drained the fluid, and added a additive to the oil, now very little noise and was told it could take a while to go away all together. If nothing, you can try it, it's not expensive. Hope it helps.

 

Ken may be onto something here... if you have a limited slip diff you may need to change out your fluid, add some friction modifiers and try driving again.<br>When was it last serviced, if you know???<br><br>bob.

 

Are both of your front hubs fully disengaged? Just a thought . . .<br>

 

I took my truck for a drive this morning and it still had a slight vibration and was told to drain the diff again and it should clear it up.

 

Well, all this sounds good, I will look into all of this. Draining the rear end is easy and probably should be done anyway, but what are these friction modifiers you are talking about, and where can a guy find them? I will also jack the front end up and make sure the lock-outs are disengaging. <br>Thanks for all your help again guys...<br>Paul

 

Here's something that took me awhile to figure out on my truck. If I'm turning with the clutch pushed in i.e. the motor at idle, I get a vibration, but if I'm under power thru a turn its smooth. Must have something to do with the harmonics of the chassis with the engine at idle and the wheels not straight forward. All you have to do is slightly rev the motor up and the vibration goes away in the turn, so I'm not concerned about it. All my mounts are in good shape as well.

 

I'm far from being a mechanic, but here it goes, when your taking a corner, your inside wheel is turning slower then the outside wheel, so the clutches in the diff have to slip, causing friction. If the modifier has broken down the clutches don't slip smoothly, they get jerky, and that's were you get the vibration. <br>You should be able to find it at a good auto parts store. Ask for limited slip diff additive.
