Very high idle

On my way to work this morning i noticed my rpm wouldnt drop below 1500, and by the time I got to work, it was sitting at 1700 while I was parked. came back out 8hrs later, started it up, and it just screamed right back to 1500 while ice cold. i didnt mess with the pump at all, and I use a fuel additive in the winter months. I know the KSB advances timing, but it wouldn't increase my idle rpm to 1500-1700 (it's about -20 to -25 °C here in Ontario). I also unplugged the KSB solenoid, and it did nothing. and ideas are appreciated. thanks

From: Whitehorse, cultural hub of the universe..
Check for a partially frozen throttle cable, moisture inside the cable housing creates chaos in the cold

That would make it hell to stop without throwing it out of gear! pind has the right idea. I have seen VE pumps act this way in cold temps as well. If it is the pump try adding a gallon or two of waste engine oil, trans fluid or hydraulic oil to the fuel tank when available. It will run quieter, have more power and free up parts in the pump. Todays fuel has no lubricity and adding oil helps alot.

BTW Be sure waste oil does not have water in it.
