V-band flange cracked....

I started working on RAE this morning and noticed exhaust had been leaking around the V-band on the exhaust side of the turbo set-up. I pulled the V-band, hoping it was the clamp that was shot or worn out, but discovered that the flange on the exhaust pipe is cracked.

I have been all over town trying to find a replacement pipe, or used piece that I can make work, but with no luck.

I searched through the archives and found reference to some V-band flanges from some e-bay sellers. Most of these seem to be made from stainless. how is it to weld stainless to regular exhaust piping?

A mig and a grinder you can fix it for free...

Good opportunity to run a 4" down-pipe all the way around and 4" up into and across your stacks.

So here's a pic of the flange. It's so beat up and fractured and cracked that I don't think it can be saved.

I found a local guy who's parting out a couple 1st gen trucks with CTD. I went by and checked them out and he has a good piece. Will pick it up in a week or so.

Make sure the mount on the bell housing is there and hooked up properly. That is normaly what happens when that mount is gone or loose.

I replaced 2 down pipes over the years from that mount coming loose.

I'm with timmy on this one. You could try and fix it. But sounds like a prime time to make some new exhaust!
