Upgrade on stock 1993 12 valve

Truck has been down for awhile and finally getting it back on the road. Researching any info on intake cool air upgrade also suggestion on getting upgrade parts. I'm just trying to getting little better towing power. Have 4" exhaust installed next week.

Any info on what I could do to increase power,

Any info greatly appreciated

The sticky is excellent for providing guidelines for increasing "power".

but the standard reply still applies.

You need gauges.... Pyro, boost, fuel pressure (at a minimum)

Bigger / Ford Intercooler and tubes is a good way to get more air into your ride. Quite a few threads on the PS upgrade, lots of pics too

366 spring will make your truck wake up

Turn your stock fuel pin to the deepest setting

Replace your hc1 with a better turbo / bigger / smaller exh housing for better / faster spooling.

First of all gauges. Boost and pyrometer are most important for tuning.
then the free pump mods and see how you like it.

I too want to build a outside air intake system.

The factory air filter box pulls air from the outside, but it for sure does not ram the air in. If you look at the intake duct directly under you passenger side headlight, you will see that there is a sheet metal trim piece blocking direct ram air from entering that snorkel. The trim piece sits halfway behind and on top of the bumper.
Armed with precise measurements, you can take your tin snips and cut out a nice rectangular opening, and put that door edge protective plastic "V" trim over the cut edges, and it'll look like it grew there.
Then you got ram air.

I didn't word that correctly
What I am thinking is build an air box to isolate the air filter from the hot air in the engine compartment as much as possible, with a bigger intake to the box.

I asked the same question. Pretty much the same answers.

So far, fuel pin and gauges are done. I have a governor spring and 16cm^3 exhaust housing to put on. I'm trying to keep my trans alive so I've been slow to crank up the power.

I think they drill a bunch of holes in the housing to allow less restriction from the snorkle.

I just took a 2" hole saw to mine. I drew lines across using a square marked and pilot drilled 1/4" holes. Then the hole saw.
