Under the KSB question

How many and how thick are the original shims/washers under the KSB valve? The parts breakdown only shows two and doesn't give part numbers for different thicknesses. I'm asking for trouble shooting purposes. I'm still trying to sort through all of the possibilities of my timing anomalies.

I think, like the rest of the VE pump, that the exact tolerances are set up to each individual pump. I know when I shattered the trust washer on the head of the piston in my VE pump, and went to the local diesel repair shop, the head guy there told me that there are probably 30 different thickness washers.

So I would assume that the set-up for the KSB would be the same. One guys washers might be 1/32 thick, while another one might be 1/64 or 1/8. It all depends on the machining of the original pump housing and then they would set up the pump accordingly.

These are just my interpretations of the info I have garnered.

So the M&H spacer would work better on some trucks and not so good on other trucks right? depending on your pump?

The M&H spacer keeps the spacing the same at idle, it just allows more travel to advance farther. I had two in there from the factory, not sure what thickness, one was thicker than the other.

I'm not so sure about that. Because when I put my M&H timing spacer in, everything went to crap, including the idle. That is why I'm wondering if the PO changed the washers or spring.
