TV cable problems

I decided to adjust the TV cable today to see if I could get the transmission to act better, but I discovered that no matter how I set the cable, it always ended up in the same spot after cycling the throttle. I can slide the "sheath" without unlocking the little dohickey that's supposed to lock it. Is it supposed to act like that? Another question: should the TV cable return with the throttle when letting off?

Yes, and yes.

I try to get the wife to act better. Messing with her do-hicky doesn't help either.

gman, there should be a spring to make the cable return, a mechanic i went to when i first got the truck took it off and put it back in the wrong spot! wanna actually e-mailed me the page from the FSM if you pm me you e-mail i'll see if i can send you the page. as far as the locking mech. mine works great and stays tight in place when you "snap" it down.
