Nope it’s stuck.
If you need to use the truck, get some stanadyne fuel additive (others might work too, but stanadyne has a really aggressive solvent & lubricity agent) or 100% biodiesel, take the AFC spring out, fill the bore with the additive, put the eccentric back in with no spring & the deepest part of the notch forward, put everything back together, and drive the truck until it starts smoking on take-off. That will be when the pin has popped out . The fuel pressure in the pump will actually help push the pin out, too.

Just keep the biodiesel off of the diaphragm as much as possible -- it might eat it.

If you can't get it to work this way, you will have to take the cover off of the pump as though you were changing the governor spring.

Good luck,

Alec

Hi Guys,
The guide pin is still not moving. It's worse now I am only getting ~6psi at WOT
Where can I find directions or pictures to take the cover off. I don't want to pay $900 to get the pump rebuilt.
Thanks, John

I'm not a member of TDR. Do you have a link to the info?

Tech FAQ HERE

This article in the first gen tech section should help. I think there are pictures posted somewhere too, if you need them. It isn't THAT hard, but cleanliness is really important.

Are you sure that you can't get that pin to move? Soaking it with additive, pushing on it with a pick?

Good luck with it however you have to tackle her.

This looks like the route I'll have to go. I have soaked it for 4 days. I am currently running without the spring and still no movement. I wonder where I can get a 3200 gov spring by Friday? Might as well while I'm in there.
Thanks, John

John, if that pump has 285k on it, you should just get it rebuilt..It should'nt be but about 400.00, depending on part's needed.. Order a 3200 spring from Piers and let the shop install it. .. OR call Piers and get next day delivery from Fed-ex or, "saturday" next day air from UPS. The spring is about 15.00.. shipping will probly be about 30.00 for a saturday delivery..

Hi Guys.
Took the throttle lever arm off and then the allen plug out. Worked the pin back an forth using some WD40 and the pin works fine now.
I am getting 18# boost and lots more power. I think the pin has been stuck for a long time.
Thanks for all the help.
John
