turning down the pump
Yeah I know that everyone always wants more, but at $2.20 a gallon for diesel and I'm only getting 14mgh. I have come to the conclusion that maybe if i turned down the pump I might get a little better mileage. What do you guys think. If I can I would like to try to get it on the dyno sometime next week and then turn it down, but we will have to see what happens.
I know that I will defiantly hate driving it without the extra go, but it still wont be like a stock one. I wonder how long i can drive it without turning it back up.

I've got a simular set up and I average 15 mpg w/o propane. From what I've learned about the addition of propane (which will vary accordingling to the different systems) you should see a increase in fuel econ. You might be able to get better mpg w/ the propane set up different. Contact dsljunkie and see if he could help you.

Yeah propane does help, but I have one of the first systems that Bull dog came out with and it doesnt allways work properly so I dont use it very often. I allways have to keep adjusting it. I think I need a new regulator. Plus the cost of propane and diesel combined doesnt pan out for the mileage increase that I should get running it all the time.
Maybe a block under the go petal would help. If the injectors didnt take so much time to switch out then I would put some small ones in while traveling and just running around and then put my big ones in for racing and showing off.

every performance thing I've done for my truck has picked up the mpg, not dropped it. I could see pulling back the starwheel and smoke screw some, if you're puffin black you're wasting some fuel, but if you're not, turning down the pump probably won't help u at all, might actually hurt mpg.
i am always computing my mileage and when i turned my pump up, i was anxious to see if it affected my mileage at all. it has been about a month now, and i still get the same mileage as i have always gotten. 18.22mpg. i dont know what it is about this truck, but i get this mileage no matter what the driving conditions. be it city, highway, 4wheel or 2wheel, my mileage always computes out to this. so i dont think turning up the pump or turning it down, would really have and effect ont he mileage

Well I went up to Oregon and got 400 miles on the tank and averaged 16.8. I drove below 70mph. Tried to keep the rpm's under 2000. Thats the best I have seen in a great while. I dont know what kind of mileage I got coming home, but I will post it when I fill up. I guess the key is not to drive with my foot mashed to the floor????????????

I did not lose fuel milage from pump adjustments, however I did lose 3 MPGs when I installed POD nozzles.
I agree that keeping the pump turned up should not affect milage, but backing the star wheel up and the smoke screw on top may help a little but will give you a bit of lag on acceloration.
Good luck
