turbo swap questions for dummies
I have a 93 d350, intercooled, with a getrag. Only thing I've done is turn Tue pump up. I believe the truck should have a 18.5 cm turbo on it. I have a 24valve motor with an auto trans. The turbo on the 24 guts are trashed. My question is could I swap houseings using my inners from the 93 to the 24 valves houseings. Another issue I see is the 24 valves is wastegated and has a totally different way of hooking up to the exhaust pipe. I am really green on all this but gotta learn some how. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also what is,the turbo off the 24 valve.
I'm confused??? Your d350 has the original 12v? Or have you swapped a 24v into your truck......
Your 24v should have a hx35 or hy35 depending on the year. I'm pretty sure you could swap your older turbo on to your 24v and just swap exhaust housings...

putting the 12cm exhaust housing from any 94 to 98 or 98-02 24v 5spd is a nice upgrade over the worthless big housings. however if your using the turbo off a 99-02 24v with an auto trans its a hy-35 with a 9 cm exhaust. you cant swap parts off that to your h1c. 98 24 v autos had a 7 blade hx-35 .
Crewcab I think u answered my question. I have been know to confuse people from time to time. Basicaly I wanted to see if the houseing off the 24v would fit on my 93 d350. With just my pump modded would it make that big of a difference getting a smaller houseing. I pull a lot of heavy loads with this truck.
you could get a ungated 12cm housing to speed the spoolup, i ran one for quite some time and really liked it, new should be around 150. or put a want ad for used and save, you wont have to modify anything, just bolt and go
