I started a thread in the 3rd gen section, because i'm looking for information on the variable turbo. There doesn't seem to be traffic over there, so i was hoping that one of you guys would know this.

What is the bolt pattern name for the HE352VE(VGT)? It is not a standard T-4 flange like every where i've read. It also doesn't match up to other turbo bolt patterns from heavy trucks, i've checked against the ones at work. The fords, internationals, and cats all seem to have the standard T-4 flange which is about 1/2" to 3/4" wider in the shortest dimension.

I could, but i think it would fall apart quickly. Plus, they sell one for 30 bux on flea bay. Theres 3 or 4 different adapters and the measurements are a little different than the turbo. I think it may be considered a T-25, but i figured someone on here would KNOW for sure.

 

T4I should be the correct term for it.

 

Im getting ready to work on putting a HE351ve vgt on my truck now. Theres been people that have mated the he351vgt to the gen 1 exhaust manifold. Just takes some minor fabrication. This way eliminates the need for an adapter, this is the way im gonna mount it if i get brave enough to do it lol. Look in my thread where they tell about it. "Gen1 vgt???" i believe.

I hear new terms for it every time I read about the **** thing. I've seen WGMT thrown around as well.

 

I think changing the pattern in the exhaust housing is the best way for the shadetree wrench like myself. Drill and tap existing holes for 1/2'' pipe, thread in pipe plugs and cut off the square end that protrudes. Now mark the housing for a standard t3 pattern and drill away. There's some other fussing around, but a drill, grinder and 20 dollar tap set are the only special tools I had on hand. Love my vgtI did not have the surface machined flat after doing this and mine does not leak.

i had ordered one of those $20 flanges and its wrong... i was trying to get the intercooler and output of the turbo to line up better, so my intake side would be easy to plumb.

I think i'm finished with the guy in cali. I walked across the street the other day with a napkin sketch and some scrap steel. The man over there punched it into his computer and popped me out two flanges that i needed in 5 minutes

Now i have to show him "how it worked out for me"

 

I believe you mean 3/8" pipe plugs.

so what did you do about the back,rear bolt? or are you just using 3 studs/bolts?

Also i see you don't have the water cooling hooked up... Its a metric fitting i need but can't find it anywhere. I'm thinking about getting a 1/2" N.P.T. tap and just use hose barbs.
