Trying to rebuild my VE Pump...
So I am in the process of rebuilding my VE Pump on my 89 D-250 and I have run into a problem. I Can't remove the assembly for the timing advance mechanism at the base of the pump. I have the exploded parts diagram and also have a detailed rebuild of the pump from the VW diesel site.
The problem is from a little bit of aluminum that is sticking out just in front of the assembly inside of the main housing of the pump. I compared it with what I saw on the VW site and his doesn't have it.
Has anyone run into this? Did you experience any problems on the rebuilding of your pumps? I hafta get this thing back together. My semester is ending this week and I want to get my truck back together before the vacation( I am a part of a Diesel Technology program). Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Can't post picks right now. I rebuilt the pump and have it back on the truck. I have fuel at the injectors but it is not at a high pressure. Could there be a pocket of air in the body of the pump itself preventing the pump from producing a high enough pressure? Any ideas? PLease I am in desperate need of help!

That's the lever on the side of the pump near the bottom. If you managed to put it together backward it would hold the control collar in the "no fuel" position.

you should remove the sloenoid and take the spring and plunger out just to be on the safe side and that way it wont mess up on you at a realy bad time like on the side of the road like mine. them you know for sure thats not the prob. Mine would click and when I tested it with a DVOM it showed to be good but was not working. just trying to save you an lot of looking for a prob thats not realy there.
