Truck Scaring Me....

Ok, this might be my imagination but on my drive home today, Going 50mph or so for about 8-10 minutes. My egt's seemed to be about 200 degrees higher than normal, and when I parked I popped the hood and the coolant was pretty hot and I slowly opened my radiator cap and coolant was coming out of that. I don't remember it ever getting this hot on a short drive like that. Also my temp gauge started working off and on and isn't working now so I don't know my coolant temp. #4 injector is leaking out of the hold down nut a little bit and I'm going to tighten that on saturday. Any ideas on a problem? Thermostat? It seemed to be fine on sunday when I drove it last. what would you guys do? Or even worry about it?

I've got 50hp Bosch injectors, and an hx-35 with a 12cm housing to add to my sig also. I know a small housing like that will cause high egt's, these just seemed to be higher than normal.

How long has it been since you last change thermostats? I would guess the one in there now could be bound shut.

I need to fix my temperature gauge. Last week after about 100 miles of continuous driving at 65 mph. the temp gauge came on and was running cooler than I have ever ran in that driving condition. Not by much but it seemed to run cooler with the new injectors. it works on and off. What do I do?

Water pumps never seem to be the issue in cases like these. If it was the water pump, your gauge would be reading hot.

It's always been recommended to me that the cooling system gets a flush every 2 years and as cheap insurance, replace all the components, water pump, thermostat and upper and lower hoses.
