Thanks tomorrow I will try to pressurize the tank and see if I can see any leaks,how much pressure should I use

 

Just a few pounds is enough, 10 psi or so.Give it a few minutes,mine took about 10 minutes or so to show up...Mark

10 psi would put 2 tons of force on the sides of the plastic tank. More like 1 lb air pressure.

 

That might be true, but I put more than that into mine with no damage. It would also be hard to seal it up enough to be able to titrate the pressure down to 1, IMO...Mark There goes the medic in me again , it means to regulate the volume ...Mark

 

Don't do it with a full tank, it will come back at you when you let off the pressure.

 

Which might be why your stock tank holds 36 gallons.

 

If that were the case, then I would have a 3000 mile range...Mark

 

Ha ha that's one way to get a larger tank than I never thought of, I didn't get the chance to pressurize the tank but will in the next few days, I really appreciate the response's I have gotten that's why I like this forum

 

just a regular fuel cap taken apart then drilled it with a 31/64 bit the fitting screwd in tight

ok guys sorry it took so long finally pressurized the tank used 8 lbs and found a leak. the PO must have broken the hard line where it goes to the pump and he put it together with hose clamps and some type of plastic fitting! It looks like there has to be serious restriction going on right there. the truck seems to run a little smoother but still not quite right so cracked each injector it missed on every one so maybe it's just the restriction causing it. Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix that so it has no restriction? here are some pics

1024 X 768 is a good size, you can see the detail and it takes up very little server space.I would just replace the line all the way back. That is the lift pump,right? It looks like an easy fix...Mark

Yes it is running a lot better but I think that changing the line from the tank to the lift pump will make a huge difference because of the restriction where the PO put the line together... I will continue to update as I go along.. thanks to all that have replied

 

Just a quick update I replaced the line from tank to lift pump with 5/16 rubber and replaced the lift pump as well (had to stay with the stock pump for now) that barb the PO fixed the line with only had a inside diameter of 3/16 no wonder the old girl ran like she did
