Injector recommendation question

About to rebuild a '93 intercooled engine for my next conversion (3/4t 4wd with NV4500) Truck will be an everyday driver with occasional towing of my tractor to my other place (12-15k) and odds and ends as needed.

Engine will be stock, except for a 3rd gen manifold and HE351CW turbo, 3200 spring, fuel pin (Considering Denny T or Hungry Diesel) and a few pump tweaks (manifold needed for clearance, turbo because I already have)

Plan to get the injectors tested locally, but if they need rebuilt, should I step up to a 5x.011 or 5x.012? Primarily looking for mileage, but a little extra power never hurts.

Thanks

I decoded my used injectors to be a 5x12 tip. I wouldn't put in anything smaller as a standard replacement.

Keep in mind the 3D gen exhaust manifold has round exhaust ports not oval ports like all 12 valve heads do. Their is a manifold that locates the turbo in exactly the same place as the 3D gen manifold does but has the correct ports for the 12 valve head.

U2slow, I was thinking stock Intercooled injectors are 6x.009, but could be wrong.

Deere country, I know of the 12v manifold (pn3931744) but I already have the 3rd gen one from a left over project, and with 3rd gen manifold gaskets, it looks like it will work. If not, will keep my eye out for a 12v manifold.

Going by a bus lot I know of tomorrow to see if any 5.9 parts available

Thanks

The stock injectors are 6X.009. You should have them reworked to 6X.011. I've run 4, 5, 6, and currently 7 hole injectors. Next go around I'm going with 6X.011. I love the 7 hole, but hard to keep them clean because no one makes a VCO in 7.

Just went thru this myself. In search for better fuel economy and some power. I swapped out my injectors two years ago to 5x12 VCO injectors, which came highly recommended by a popular injector vendor. He said " no haze, some power, and better fuel mileage". Not going to drop names, as they turned out to be crap. I should've followed my motto, as you get what you pay for. I went from 16mpg's to 11.95 mpg's, and a ton of hazing, after only two years.
After some research, I went with the dieseltuff line of injectors- 5x12VCO's. No bs promises were made, just told I'd be happy with them.
Finished the install two days ago, and the minute I started up the truck, haze is completely gone. Still have a ways to go to check on mileage, but if I get my 16mpg's back, I'll be happy. I'd like to get the 20+ mpg's that some folks get, but I truly believe either their driving like they have a pine cone taped to their bare foot, between the pedal, or they have a stock, unmolested truck, with no weight additions to it.
I used to have a reason for hazing, during the winter months. But here in CA, with temps at the high 90's, there's no excuse for the haze cloud at a stop light. I know it upsets other drivers, as I see them waving their hands to their nose and role their windows up. So far, I'm happy with these new injectors.

My worst offenders where the 4X.014, part of it being they where 155° SAC. The cleanest where the OEM 6X.009 VCO 145°. The 5X.012 and the 7X.010 are about the same in the middle. The 5X.012 where built on 370 marine 155° VCO nozzles. They hazed some at idle, but could really blow a cloud at WOT. The 7X.010 are SAC 145° nozzles. They haze a little less, but will puff a cloud with every stout throttle increase. Fortunately it's a short lived puff that end almost as fast as it starts.

I would go bigragu's route. Go to dieseltuff.com & email him with your needs & goals.
