You can put anything you want in it with enough prybars/hammers... Guy on cumminsforum put a 10 speed in his D350 ... I kept up with the thread for awhile then stopped.. idk if he ever got it to work.

Question is... Why ?? major cab modifications would have to be done, Custom crossmember, Driveshaft, clutch setup.

Unless you haul heavy all the time I would not recommend a 9 speed or any other twin countershaft trans. The Cummins 5.9 has a nice wide power band, there's no reason to have a trans with 500-800 RPM gear spacing.

Use a Getrag or an NV4500.

With enough money, you can do just about anything you want t your truck.

fitting in a NV5600 in a D250 would get you the same headaches for installation as a Fuller (or anything too big), and it would be a better match for the 6BT.

It's a chevy with a cummins conversion with a 10 speed out back. That skinny guy is going to have a big right arm within a year

I'd have to agree on the further apart spacing of gears! I LOVE my 727 3 speed auto over my 518 with O/D and that's just a small difference. I love having a larger range of RPM through each gear, she pulls great.

However, rowing through 9 gears on your way to 60mph would sound fricken sweet!

Dang that is funny to watch.. A buddy of mine COMPLAINS about all the shifting he has to do with his 2000 Ram with a NV5600 all the time, I'd love to put him in that truck.

What gives you the larger speed range in each gear is the 3.07's....
The 518 IS a 727 just with the OD on the rear of it. Gears are the same in both....

I can understand the different part.... but with my 6speed manual.... I don't use all the gears all the time.

I have started in 2nd then 3rd then 4th skip 5th and on to 6th.
Of course I have skipped 3rd as well... 2nd, 4th,6th

Of course these are only done with a empty truck and I'm lazy

5th wheel on behind ... I use them all.
