transfer case shifting?
I feel a little dumb asking this, but I don't know how to shift my transfer case on my 91.5 w250 auto. The **** doesn't have the pattern written on it. I don't have an owner's manual, never owned 4x4 auto before.
I can already tell it's not like my Toyotas'.
Could someone please draw me a picture, or talk me through it
thanks

The transfer case shifter can be very stubborn coming out of 4wheel drive. If rocking the truck gently back and forth doesn't free it up I sometimes have to resort to unlocking the hubs before it will disengage. If you should wind up in neutral stop the engine before reengaging will prevent a lot of grinding especially if you try to shift the transmission into park.
Yeah, I got the grinding, freaked me a bit. Not happy sounds. Had to shut it off to get in park.
just looked on the visor, whadaya know, there it is.
now I really feel dumb. I thought the visor was there to hold the headliner up.
I got this truck a couple of months ago, been working on getting her roadworthy. I'm almost there. Last two hurdles, tires, registration. (cash) I can't wait to get her on the road and see what she can do. Up till now I've been limited to putting around the neighborhood.
this forum has been a Godsend. Thank you all for your time and patience.

To not hear grinding momentarily shift into reverse and then back to neutral with the trans. then shift t case into gear. Don't feel bad, just last week I posted about why the front shaft was spinning in 2wd and didn't know that it freewheeled.
