transfer case
transfer case
I have my transfer case out of my truck to change the clutch. Should I change the bearings and seals or just seals while it's out? Do the bearings ever give trouble in these cases? Is there any way to check them. I do a lot of 4x4ing in the winter.
Is it leaking ? is it shifting fine ?
Changing Bearings and seals can mean a whole lotta different things
Here is a link with some Very good info

The front output leaks a little, so I want to fix that. It shifts fine. It hasn't given me any grief but it gets driven pretty hard. Bearings aren't that expensive but if they aren't necessary I don't want to take it all apart.
Im the only person I know of who has had a tcase failure while under normal usage(no tractor pulls or drag racing). I had the rear output bearing grind out on me last year while grossing 20k plus. I pulled it, took it to a gear shop, 6 bills later new bearing kit. if its out, and you got the money, do it.
