Trans shift points, non stock rebuild

I had the trans rebuilt a few weeks ago and shift points are not righ when at full throttle (as if I were drag racing). It was built with a trans-go shift kit and low stall converter, also with clutch upgades like what Bc847 has done in the sticky. I know the line pressure has been increased as well. Now here is what the problem is.

The 1-2 shift is at about 2600-2800rpm, the 2-3 shift is much lower, about 2400rpm. I have a 3200 spring in the pump so with the 2-3 shift Im loosing 600-800rpm of usable power. The trans tech is good but is not sure if he can change the tv cable springs in the valve body enough to up the shift points. He knows that realy the govenor should come out and the weights lightened up to allow it to rev higher before the weights act

My Question.
What has been done in the past to solve this? Is there a governor kit that should be put in?

Sorry for it being so long.

Thanks
Yuri

i took the gov out of mine and it lasted about 7k miles, wouldnt recommend running without the gov spring, parts break and towing is spendy. This crap never happens close to home. Dont have a tach in mine but is set to shift at 15, 25, 35, 45 respectively. Hope this helps at least a little.

Hmmm...I'm wondering if you've got the gasser governor weights instead of the diesel ones. It sounds like your shifts points are awfully high. The diesel weights are quite a bit heavier for a lower shift point. At full throttle my 1-2 shift happens around 1800-2000 rpms. 2-3 shift about the same. There's some adjustability by using the TV cable adjustment.

That's what I'm thinking, . . . I had to substantially adjust mine vs the stock/OEM setting.

Be sure to check the actual setting of the TPS.

When I put in my rebuilt 618 my shift points went WAAAY high....
I couldn't even adjust the tv cable to bring them back down.
I had to take the tv off the peg it normally rides on and rig a link from the peg to the tv slot moving the tv toward the radiator about 3/4".
Now it shifts 1-2 ~ 8 mph and 2-3 ~ 18 mph with a lite throttle and full throttle is a 'lift-and-shift' proposition

I still only have ~ 100mi on it, but it seems to be getting a little better.
Maybe parts are settling ???

It still has the diesel weights in the gov.

The tv cable is at its max when at full throttle. The lever that it connects to on the trans can't move any further.

Thanks for the reply's.
I may not be understanding them fully
