And I thought we had a drawl

I got the stuff to put together a test fitting today. I'm letting the RTV set up overnight and will plug my compressor into the turbo inlet tomorrow after work. Wish me luck.
I'm using a rubber sewer pipe bell reducer and a pvc pipe plug, 3" NPT, with a quick connect air fitting screwed into the plug. The RTV is sealing the threads. THe air hose has a valve on it to regulate the flow and a gauge. There is also the boost gauge on the truck that will work as well.

I wouldn't worry about the threads, you will be leaking a lot of air thru the open intake valve........and still holding 5-15 psi........just make sure you have a tight fit on the turbo. I had one come right out of the truck with only 5 psi in the line

I wish, I wish,...........I wish you only have a loose hose clamp!!!!!!!

I replaced one hose already and went around the clamps twice when all this started. I know I am missing a small piece of flange on the turbo elbow and addressed that concern when I installed the new housing and wheel. A little rtv on the joint. There isn't noticable play in the turbo and the shaft nut is tight. My guess is a "waste gated" cooler. I just hope that if it is, I will be able to patch the leak before I need a replacement. I,m leaning towards getting a Ford Superduty cooler from the salvedge yard, if I can find one, or maybe a later model Dodge.

I think i should test too. Just to be clear, I take a rubber 4" cap with a valve stem and clamp it on to my turbo and then pressurize and listen. Leave anyhting out?

I'll let you know when I'm done. I am using a 4 to 3 inch rubber reducing bushing with an air fitting like you would use on your impact gun fitted into a 3 inch plug. Then when air pressure is up to 10 or 20 I'll try and find all the leaks with soapy water. Dishwashing detergent solution and a squirt bottle will do the trick.

It ain't the cooler. it wasn't the hoses. It is the elbow. When I was changing the exhaust housing last year i got in a hurry and carelessly fractured the flange on the elbow underneath the clamp. I just pulled the compressor housing and cleaned up the elbow and temporarily patched it with some High Temp Rtv. I'll see how good a job i did tomorrow. So far it isn't leaking but I haven't put a lot of pressure on it yet. If anyone has one of those collecting dust somewhere in their garage, give me a PM.

Thanks guys, for all the input.

It fell on its face. The hole was larger than I thought. I started a new thread, "Leak repaired"

I haven't got the down pipe yet from Rip but the DTT torque converter and shift kit is almost done. My OD solenoid quit on the test drive. I am here to tell all that Timinva is great to work with. He has patients and knows what he is doing with quality and customer satisfaction as number one. AND, the DTT torque converter is a vast improvement over stock. When I get overdrive back, i'll give some accurate numbers on egt and boost. Right now I gotta knock the smile off this ugly mug.
