Goerends is guaranteed for life, I believe. Meaning that you won't have to do it twice.

Or are his triple disks the only ones that are guaranteed for life? They cost a few hundred more than his single disks, but will hold.

I think that the Hughes is a great alternative for anybody who isn't looking to go crazy on drugs or get a 14 mm pump head...

A wise man named Dave once told me the % rating is a load of balogna. Thats why he doesn't rate his converters by %, theres no accurate way to tell you just how tight it is. LOL

Mine has held together just great. Lot's of trailer towing and mountain driving, and it's just like new still. But I still wish I had a lockup!

I have been running one for a while. My opinion: Better than stock, but still isn't to my liking. I know I won't be able to achieve that "lock-up" feeling with my A518, but I honestly think things could be better. I seriously don't know how folks can tow 4,000lbs+ with these transmissions (in stock form)???? Even after my rebuild, the transmission still gets really hot and takes very little effort to push it into unsafe temperature ranges. I have some troubleshooting to deal with regarding my underbed aux. cooler.

It is a rating for how efficeint the converter is ie input speed vs output speed like my dtt is 91% rate!

put the hughes in my 82 about 4 months ago. i am pleased with it. if and when my 90 has a problem i will probably put one in it. did have to raise the idle about 75-100 rpm to keep engine from dying when putting it in gear. day-lite and dark difference in the slushy stocker.

Correct, but at what rpm, with how much torque? It may be true for a stock truck, but one that has been enhanced, that slip will be more with the enhanced torque increase.

Of course, it will still be way better than stock... way better.

The rpm will not ever be the same with all trucks and settings of them with the billet stator in mine there is no torque limt 91% is output speed is at full output of engine.

true, all i know is my 82 with stock converter went 23 to 2400 with the hughes it dropped to 17- 1800 at full throttle. dont know on fuel mileage jury still out. street tires will start spinning about 15-1600 at full throttle in high gear

I've seen 2800 out of the stock converter in my 91.5.
Needless to say, the 3200 spring did wonders . .. lol
I need a better converter, which i can't afford.

How heavy are you towing? I'm looking at replacing mine, maybe, but $$ and weight are my biggest concerns. What's your stall speed?
